Buch Erstausgabe
Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very Good. Mrs J M Cameron ++ (illustrator). First. HB DJ 1st Ed. See pic. DJ not priced, not clipped. Dark brown cloth boards, gilt titles spine. 17.7 x 13cm. 64 pages. b/w photos. Collection of 18 love poems addressed to the great actress Ellen Terry by playwright George Bernard Shaw. Published here for the first time. The original manuscript came to light in the early 1950's. The repro of the relevant page from Sotheby's sale catalogue makes interesting reading. Later doubts were expressed as to the authenticity of the poems. Here presented in facsimile from the original manuscript together with a repro of an authenticated original manuscript of a virtually unknown poem by Shaw, to enable the reader to compare the handwriting and judge for themselves. The photos are of Ellen Terry taken at various stages in her long theatrical career. Condition: Minor age discolouration on DJ spine, otherwise like new. VGC.
